Recently on Polyvore!

As you may have noticed I recently signed up for Polyvore and have been absolutely LOVING it.

If you don't know what it is, basically you create collections and pictures from a HUGE selection of items - fashion, beauty, home, celebrities etc. It then works like any other social media platform where people can follow you, comment on your 'sets' and like them.
The site also has links to where to buy all of the items which are available for use in your sets. So it combines social media, shopping and creativity, all in the one site!!

If you haven't checked it out yet you can here. And follow me here. :)

Now, heres a quick sample of some of the stuff I've been creating recently!!

Christmas Nails!

Christmas Series #4

I've been embracing the Christmas spirit on my nails lately and thought I would share some of the different combinations I've been trying recently.
So far I've kept it pretty simple, just colour and a glitter top coat but I think through the week I will give something a little more detailed a try!!

This first one in Loreal's Lady Luck and Revlon's Sparkle.
Please ignore the terrible photo and excess polish. I don't know what I was thinking haha!

And this one is China Glaze 866 Four leaf Clover with Revlon's sparkle and NYX 166 Grand Royal.
My Instagram skills have improved in the last week and I cleaned up the polish before I took the picture!!

Let me know if you have done or seen any great christmas nail tutorials I could try out!!

Christmas Baking | Gingerbread stars!!

CHRISTMAS SERIES # 3

I found the most amazing recipe for gingerbread biscuits and have made them twice in the last two weeks. The whole family love them so I thought I would share these festive delights with you too.

This recipe is great because the ginger flavour isn't too strong, they are sweet and they take less than an hour in total!! Baking included!!

You could make your own icing, but I just use the packet Royal Icing that you just add water to because it saves time and tastes the same.

Ingredients

125g butter, softened
1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
1/2 cup (125ml) golden syrup
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 cups (375g) plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 packet royal icing mix and approx. 70ml water (as called for on the packaging)
1 packet Dessert Delights flavoured sprinkles (or topping of your choice)

Method

Step One: Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 oven trays with baking paper.

Step Two: Use an electric mixer to beat the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a bowl until pale and creamy. Add egg yolk and beat until just combined. Sift over the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves; use a wooden spoon to stir to combine. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until smooth.

Step Three: Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to 3mm thick. Use star cutters to make shapes. Place on the prepared trays

Step Four: Bake in preheated oven, swapping trays halfway through cooking, for 10-12 minutes (I found ten minutes was plenty; five on each shelf)  or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside on the trays to cool.

Step Five: Make Royal Icing as per instructions on packet. Using a piping bag and 1mm nozzle, pipe icing onto biscuits in desired pattern.

Step Six: Sprinkle with Dessert sprinkles. Allow Icing to dry before storing.

***Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. (So make now for Christmas, if you can resist them that long!)

Summer makeup routine | FOTD!!

FOTD + Summer foundation routine!!

Lets all just pretend that giant zit on my head isn't there. No amount of concealer in the world could cover that up haha!
So It's starting to get really hot in Melbourne now and I have developed a new makeup routine which comprises a much lighter feeling foundation that doesn't leave you feeling like your melting!

Step 1.
I've said in previous posts that I'm not the biggest fan of BB creams. I don't feel like they give me the coverage I want. However, I really don't like wearing foundation in summer because it gets so hot and I always feel like it's melting off. LOL. So what I have been doing lately is starting with the Rimmel BB cream in light and then using Revlon colour stay mineral foundation in light over the top. This takes away some of the dewiness of the BB cream and gives a little extra coverage. Because it is a powder foundation it doesn't feel heavy or think on the face, which is what I look for in my summer makeup.

Step 2.
For concealer I use the Avon ideal shade concealer stick in Neutral. I just put that over any spots or redness.

Step 3.
Then I begin on my eyes. I use the Garnier roll on anti-dark circles, which really brightens up the under eye area and hides any dark circles or bags etc.
For an eyeshadow base I use Essence I  stage eyeshadow base, all over the eyelid, right up to the eyebrow. This gives you more even eyeshadow coverage and helps to make the eyeshadow last longer on the lid.

Step 4.
Today I decided to use the Designer Brands Diva Kit eyeshadow palette. I used colour 1 on the top part of my eye, under the eyebrow. For the crease I used colour 4 and for the rest of the eyelid, colour 2.
I then use the Savvy by Designer Brands eyebrow pencil in Blonde to fill in and shape my eyebrows.
For eyeliner I use the Maybelline Master liner in BK-1. Just a thin line on the lid and a thin line on the outside third of the lower lash line.
For mascara I used the Maybelline XXL pro Curl.

Step 5.
Today I've gone with a nice bright blush. I've used Maybelline expert wear blush in 95 potpourri. I can never seem to get my blush to blend nicely so I use the Covergirl Clean pressed powder in 105 ivory to soften the edges and highlight my cheekbones.

Step 6.
Finally for the lips. Today I decided to be a little adventurous and go for a bold red lip. Usually I would choose pink but I really don't wear red lipstick enough so I thought I would mix it up a bit.
I used Mirenesse Lip cocktail in French Kiss.
This is a very deep red so to brighten it up a bit for summer I added a small amount of Essence stay with me long lasting lipgloss in 03 candy bar.

My brush set is by Montana Bliss, I bought it at a market almost two years ago.

So that is my face of the day and my summer foundation routine, I hope you found this helpful.

Let me know in the comments what your number one makeup tip for summer is!

Until next time :) xx

Styling Peplum tops :)

Peplum tops are one of this seasons hottest trends. They are flattering and come in a variety of colours. I like wearing them with tighter bottoms to balance out the hem of the top. You could try shorts or for a more formal look, a bodycon skirt!

Summer outfits: For Christmas day

As Christmas is in summer in Australia it can be difficult to find festive outfits that don't leave you in a sweaty heap by the end of the day.

By pairing a cute red dress with gold sparkly accessories you can get that festive look and beat the heat at the same time.

If your day is a little more formal I would go for a maxi dress or high-low dress and gold wedges or heels.

For a more casual look, try a shorter dress with gold flats.
